This is our 3rd year celebrating Women in Jazz on International Women's Day!
The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School's College of Performing Arts partners with the Women in Jazz Organization in honor of International Women's Day! WIJO will host a jazz jam to celebrate Women in Jazz past and present.
The first set will feature a spectacular house band featuring Miki Yamanaka on piano, Devon Gates on bass, and Holly Channel on drums. They will perform originals and tunes by other women in jazz such as Carla Bley, Alice Coltrane, Mary Lou Williams, Geri Allen, and Jane Ira Bloom.
Following the house band will be an open jam hosted by Allegra Levy for all- bring your instruments, you never know who might show!
