Celebrate Earth Day (with a three week delay) by joining us in-person for an eye-opening event about the crucial role of nature in crafting cities that overcome climate change. This evening will feature three short films:
"Garden Ministry" featuring Rev. Dallas Conyers, directed by Kerri Pang
"Sustainable Cities: Nature-Based Solutions in Urban Design" by The Nature Conservancy's Nature Lab
"Floating Gardens of Bangladesh" by Alizé Carrère
After each film, members of the Urban Systems Lab will share insights on how integrating nature into cities can help make them more resilient. We'll see how innovative approaches like green spaces, rain and community gardens, and floating farms protect against climate impacts while benefiting people and the environment. We'll discuss what role technology can play in fostering environmental justice.
Join us in unearthing progressive ideas on nature's power to foster thriving, resilient cities for all. An enlightening evening awaits those eager to forge regenerative urban futures.
Note: This event was originally scheduled for April 22, 2024 (Earth Day) and was set to take place in the University Center. The emergence of the encampment and the administration's interaction with it resulted in our event's postponed to Wednesday May 15th at a different location on campus.
Presented by Urban Systems Lab at the Schools of Public Engagement.
