Parsons Fine Arts invites you to join us on Wednesday, April 3rd at 7pm for the Visiting Artist Lecture Series featuring New Red Order.
New Red Order is a public secret society facilitated by core contributors Adam Khalil, Zack Khalil, and Jackson Polys, as well as a rotating and expanding cast of informants and accomplices. In our current period of existential and environmental catastrophe, desires for Indigenous epistemologies increase and enterprising settlers labor to extract this understanding as if it were a natural resource. New Red Order—emerging out of contradistinction from the Improved Order of Red Men, a secret society that 'plays Indian'—calls attraction toward indigeneity into question, yet promotes this desire, and enjoins potential non-Indigenous accomplices to participate in the co-examination and expansion of Indigenous agency. Working with an interdisciplinary network of informants the NRO co-produces video, performance, and installation works that confront settler colonial tendencies and obstacles to Indigenous growth.Â
Â
They have presented their work at Artists Space, Creative Time, Haus der Kulturen der Welt Berlin, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Lincoln Center, Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, Museum of Modern Art, Walker Arts Center, New York Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, 2019 Toronto Biennial, 59th Venice Biennale, and 2019 Whitney Biennial, among others, expanding the public secret society network across numerous institutional platforms.

The Visiting Artist Lecture Series is free and open to the public. Please RSVP by using the button on the left.

About the Visiting Artist Lecture Series
The Fine Arts Program’s Visiting Artist Lecture Series invites prominent national and international contemporary artists to campus to present their practices and ideas. Artists from different backgrounds, generations and career trajectories share their work in a public lecture and engage with students’ practices through one-on-one studio visits or workshops. The series offers a unique opportunity for students to gain insight from visiting artists, and pose questions regarding their process, research, challenges and ideas that emerge when a public encounters their work. Through these engagements, VAL facilitates a rigorous contemplation of each visiting artist’s practice and the importance of their work to the field. The Visiting Artists Lecture Series for Spring 2024 features: Faculty Roundtable: IV Castellanos, Carrie Yamaoka and E. Jane, Farah Al Qasimi, Daniel Bozhkov, Abigail DeVille, Sarah Faux, Azza El Siddique, Jumana Manna, New Red Order (NRO), Tsherin Sherpa, Rose B. Simpson.
Presented by the Fine Arts Department at Parsons School of Design.
