What do we make of our experience of a city, where aesthetics are closely bound with politics and social design? What is the role of listening for our relation with our physical, social and political environment?Â
The notions of ‘feedback’ and ‘resonance’ provide orientation to explore relationships with our environments, bodies, materials and human/non-human entities. In particular, the exhibition addresses human perception and response, with feedback from our environments affected by the pandemic which sees a shift into intimate spheres, and its simultaneous expansion into digital lives.Â
‘Feedback’ and ‘resonance’ are also artistic methods in this exhibition that combine the artworks from our Core Lab ‘Urban’ and Sound and Space courses, with sensibilities to ideas of attunement and agency. As such, ‘feedback’ provides techniques for urban analysis, observation and representation, whilst ‘resonance’ is understood as echo, repetition and distortion, myth, as well as a way to relate to one another, both reckoning with the diversity and complexity of contemporary contexts.
Exhibiting students include Aya Abu Shaqra, Ellie Anhalt, Celeste Bohan, Olivia Brazier, Sheenam Das, Liam Doyle, Marika Kleinfeldt, Sydney Maggin, Alina Mufti, Eslie Ahou Ramia Nguessan, Henry Olyphant, Anna Osipov, Iman Salem, Maya Valencia, Henriette (Erica) Watum, and Jacob Weiner.
