The United Nations Summer Study (UNSS), offered by The New School’s Julien J. Studley Graduate Program in International Affairs accepts applications from graduate and undergraduate students and continuing education professionals from all fields and areas of study. The program provides knowledge and skills for understanding the United Nations system, and offers preparation for careers in international affairs, including inter- and non-governmental organizations, governments, think tanks, and journalism. Thematics span security, peacekeeping and peacebuilding, terrorism, sustainable development, human rights, humanitarian affairs, colonialism and race, gender, and demographics and youth.
UNSS’s coursework prepares you to analyze and engage with contemporary issues, policies, and debates in international affairs. UNSS practice-based programming enables you to gain hands-on experience through sessions with UN officials and other experts, site visits to member state missions, and in some cases consultancy work with a UN agency or international non-governmental organization.
Presented by the Julien J. Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs at the Schools of Public Engagement.
