Please join us for an informal New School discussion of the recent German election. As expected, while the center still holds, the far-right AfD is now the second largest party. But unexpected is how the US government has shocked Germany and Europe by switching sides in the Ukraine war. This creates a rapidly rightward shifting landscape at home and abroad that any new German government will have to navigate.
The discussion will be led by New School faculty Christina Morina, the Heuss Visiting Professor of History, and Jonathan Bach, Professor of Global Studies, along with Elzbieta Matynia (Prof. of Sociology), Jürgen von Mahs (Assoc. Prof. of Urban Studies), Jean Maurer (graduate student, Philosophy) and others.
