The Remembering is a capsule collection and immersive experience by Naika Colas exploring Haitian agricultural memory, diasporic identity, and the stories carried across generations through the art of garment-making.

Rooted in the life and legacy of the designer’s grandmother, the collection translates land and lineage into hand-sewn garments which are created in collaboration with the women of Sewing for Refuge, a nonprofit initiative supporting refugee and asylum-seeking garment workers in New York City.

This multidisciplinary event brings together a fashion presentation, curated food experience, and panel discussion alongside a vibrant cultural program featuring Haitian vendors, performers, and artists. Guests will experience contributions from Papa Rozier, as well as live Haitian dancers, singers, and visual artists whose work reflects the richness and continuity of Haitian culture.

The evening’s conversation will be moderated by philanthropist, strategist, and freelance writer Ruth Jean-Marie, guiding a dialogue at the intersection of fashion, culture, and community.

The Remembering invites attendees to engage with fashion as both material and memory, offering a space where design, storytelling, and community converge.
