François Damide of Solstiss Lace will present on the history of French lace-making, from bobbin to leavers lace, to further innovations such as vinylized, flocked, or biodegradable nylon lace.
François will also touch on the role of lace today, elevated as an essential part of haute couture craft (think Chanel's Métiers d'arts shows), featured in period shows like The Gilded Age or worn by music icons Beyoncé and Madonna.
