The Final Round of The George and Elizabeth Gregory Concerto Competition for the 2024-2025 academic year is open to the public. The finalists will perform their entire pieces, and the winners will be announced live by the panel of judges. In addition to a public performance with the Mannes Orchestra on Friday, February 28, the first-prize winner will receive a financial award of $4,000. The two runners-up alternates will also be announced, each receiving $500.

Scott McAllister: X Concerto
Kyle Glasgow is a clarinetist, teacher, producer, and instrument repair technician based in New York City and the DMV region. His performances have captivated audiences throughout the United States, Belgium, France, Spain, and Austria. He aims to generate connection, combat loneliness through music, and dismantle the barriers often upheld by classical music traditions to make it more accessible and relevant to all audiences. Kyle is an avid commissioner and advocate of contemporary music, perpetually commissioning new works for the clarinet. He is a founding member of IGNIS, a nationally award-winning woodwind quintet primarily focused on 21st-century and new music. He holds a B.M. and M.M. in clarinet performance from the University of Maryland and is earning a Professional Studies Diploma from the Mannes School of Music.
John Corigliano: Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra
Kingsley Hsieh, a 20-year-old American-Taiwanese clarinetist from Taipei, Taiwan, is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Mannes School of Music under Professor Charles Neidich, with eligibility for full tuition exemption. Kingsley is passionate about performing contemporary music. He won the 2023 Soloist Competition at Taipei National University of the Arts and performed Jörg Widmann’s Fantasie in April 2023. Additionally, Kingsley won 1st prize in the college division of the 2024 Adelphi Concerto Competition last April. He will be performing the Second Concerto by C. M Weber with Adelphi Orchestra on February in New York and New Jersey. He and his wind quintet have been invited to perform at various events, playing music from different periods, including Samuel Barber’s Summer Music, Carl Nielsen’s Wind Quintet, and works by several American composers.
Jean Sibelius: Violin Concerto in D Minor, Op. 47
South Korean violinist Joseph Jin is currently pursuing his Professional Studies Diploma at the Mannes School of Music under the tutelage of Stefan Jackiw. A graduate of Seoul National University, Mr. Jin has led several orchestras as concertmaster, including the Ministry of National Defense Orchestra, Seoul
National University Orchestra, and the Mannes Orchestra. A winner of many solo competitions such as the Vitas International Music Competition, The Music Association Of Korea Competition, KCO Music Concour, Eumak Journal Music, Hansei University Music Competition, Yongin City National Music Competition, and Nanpa National Music Competition, Mr. Jin made his solo Carnegie Hall debut in 2022 as part of the Mannes Sounds Festival. As a conductor, he has been collaborating with the Roslyn Church Choir as a Music Director and Performer since 2022. Mr. Jin has performed as a chamber musician in Alice Tully Hall, Seoul Art Center, Sejong Chamber Hall, as well as at Sapporo Concert Hall and Suntory Hall in Japan.
Lowell Liebermann: Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 12
Yuhe Lu was born in Shanghai, China, and began studying piano around seven. He is pursuing his Bachelor of Music Degree at the Mannes School of Music in New York City and currently studying with Professor Xiayin Wang. Yuhe has performed in Carnegie’s Weill Hall, Alice Tully Hall, The New York Steinway Hall, The Dimenna Center in New York, The New School. Also at Caruth Auditorium at SMU, John Anthony Theatre, The Eisemann Center for Performing Arts, and also in Italy and China.
Emmanuel Séjourné: Concerto No. 1 for Marimba and Strings
Elijah Shina is a first-year Master’s student in Percussion Performance at Mannes, studying with Parker Lee, Joe Tompkins, and the members of Sandbox Percussion. He has performed in masterclasses and given performances with esteemed percussionists like Michael Burritt, Colin Currie, Nancy Zeltsman, Doug Perkins, Cynthia Yeh, Anders Astrand, and the members of Sō Percussion. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Princeton University and is a former winner of the Princeton University Concerto Competition. Elijah hails from Louisville, KY.
