Please join us for a timely event with Michael H. Posner (NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights), Lenore Palladino (University of Massachusetts-Amherst and the Roosevelt Institute), and Tiya Gordon (itselectric) to discuss how capitalist enterprise can be both a catalyst and an impediment to social change. Are there ways to encourage socially beneficial business practices? A diverse panel of experts will debate these fundamental issues. The discussion will be moderated by Scott Pinkus, a member of the Eugene Lang College Board of Governors, and will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
Presented by the Dean's Office at Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at The New School.
Tiya holds 20 years experience in leadership and design operations across a range of disciplines for some of the country’s top firms and institutions. Her work has received the industry’s top accolades, including The National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; the Inaugural Cannes Gold Lion for Creative Data; the Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival; and the designation of second most innovative design firm in the world by Fast Company. Her founding of itselectric is the first step in her refocusing the next 20 years of her career on projects waging war against the Climate Crisis.
Lenore Palladino is associate professor in the School of Public Policy and the Department of Economics and a research associate at the UMass Amherst Political Economy Research Institute, as well as a fellow at the Roosevelt Institute.
Palladino’s research centers on corporate power, stakeholder corporations, shareholder primacy, and the relationship between corporate governance and the labor market.Â
Palladino’s book, Good Company: Economic Policy after Shareholder Primacy, is out now from the University of Chicago Press.
