Do exciter lamps excite you? Is cellulose acetate your favorite perfume? Do you hum along to projector noise? Are you an aura junkie? A regular-degular movie buff? Yes? This series invites faculty experts from across the university to select and introduce a 16mm print from the School of Media Studies’ archive that includes a mix of art film classics, daring documentaries, underground obscurities, and oddball gems. This month, Leo Goldsmith, Assistant Professor of Screen Studies, has selected the horror classic, Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933), directed by Michael Curtiz. Join us to find out why! This print has some added quirks so expect surprises. Goldsmith has published extensively as a film scholar, critic, and frequent contributor to 4Columns, Film Comment, and the The Brooklyn Rail. As a curator and film programmer, Goldsmith serves as an advisor to the programming team of the New York Film Festival.
