Robert Boyers (Skidmore) will be in conversation with Jim Miller (NSSR) on the role of public intellectuals. Boyers will also read/present some from his newest book, Maestros & Monsters: Days & Nights with Susan Sontag & George Steiner.

Robert Boyers is an American literary essayist, cultural critic and memoirist. Currently, he is the editor of the quarterly magazine Salmagundi, Professor of English at Skidmore College, and Director of the New York State Summer Writers Institute, which he founded in 1987.

Claudia Hilb

Claudia Hilb is currently a professor of political theory in the Political Science Department, Faculty of Social Sciences (UBA) and an independent researcher at Conicet. Her areas of interest are modern and contemporary political theory, and reflection on current political problems from a theoretical-political approach. She has published various articles and books in her specialty in Argentina and abroad. Recent publications include Usos del Pasado (2013), Leo Strauss: El filósofo en la ciudad (2011), Silencio, Cuba (2010), Politico y el cientifico. Ensayos en homenaje a Juan Carlos Portantiero (comp., 2009), Gloria, Miedo y Vanidad:  El rostro plural del hombre Hobbesiano (in collaboration, 2007), and Leo Strauss: el arte de leer (2005).
