 Our third panel will explore Western psychology’s contribution to the myth of a normative ideal against which Black, Indigenous, and People of Color as well as those from the Global South are assessed, diagnosed, and treated (Ali-Faisal, 2020). Panelists will reflect on the need to decolonize mental health practices alongside a recognition of non-Western and indigenous forms of healing that are culture-sensitive, collectivistic, and holistic (Akomolafe, 2012).Â
