Participation in New Student Orientation is important to your successful entry into Parsons and The New School. These virtual sessions provide you with the opportunity to learn about your program and the Parsons experience, ranging from our amazing faculty, students, and staff. You’ll walk away with a wealth of knowledge that will help you succeed during your time at Parsons. Parsons orientation events are organized by the five schools within Parsons and the First-Year Program. University-wide orientation events are also happening throughout the week.

Students are required to attend the Parsons welcome event, their school’s academic program meeting, and other designated events.

For Orientation, Parsons is segmented into 6 groups. These 6 groups represent how you'll experience this week in the most impactful way:

--First-Year Freshman/First-Year Transfers: Students entering into Parsons as First Year undergraduate students.  Be sure to check your acceptance letter for this indication. You will have a series of First-Year sessions and will also have an opportunity to hear from the leadership of your chosen major. 

-- Graduate level and Transfer undergraduate students in the School of Art Design History and Theory: Students entering into Parsons in the following programs not as First-Year students:  MA Fashion Studies -- MA History of Design and Curatorial Studies -- BFA Design History and Practice

-- Associate degree level, Graduate level and Transfer undergraduate students in the School of Art, Media, and Technology: Students entering into Parsons in the following programs not as First-Year students:  AAS: Communication Design -- BFA: Communication Design -- BFA: Design and Technology -- BFA: Fine Arts -- BFA Illustration -- BFA: Photography -- MS: Data Visualization -- MFA: Design and Technology -- MFA: Fine Arts -- MPS: Communication Design

-- Associate degree level, Graduate level and Transfer undergraduate students in the School of Constructed Environments: Students entering into Parsons in the following programs not as First-Year students: AAS Interior Design -- BFA Architectural Design -- BFA Interior Design -- BFA Product Design -- MARCH Architecture -- MARCH/MFA Architecture and Lighting Design -- MFA Industrial Design -- MFA Interior Design -- MFA Lighting Design

-- Associate degree level, Graduate level and Transfer undergraduate students in the School of Fashion: Students entering into Parsons in the following programs not as First-Year students: AAS Fashion Design -- AAS Fashion Marketing -- BFA Fashion Design (Graduate programs in the School of Fashion will receive details regarding Orientation from their Program Directors)

1). All of the sessions below are virtual 
2). Please use your Newschool.edu email address to login to your zoom sessions. If you have any questions about your newschool email address, please contact: itcentral@newschool.edu 

3). You should have received an email from Parsonsevents@newschool.edu with your zoom links. Please check your spam. If you did not receive anything, email Parsonsevents@newschool.edu. NOTE: Graduate students in the School of Fashion will be receiving an email from your Program Directors. 
4). Please be sure to remember to complete your Prep for Success modules. We're encouraging you to complete the full course within six weeks.
5). Make sure that you check-in with your Advisor if you have not already regarding your Spring Semester courses.
6). Before attending, we encourage you to review our 2021-2022 academic plans for The New School and Parsons.
