Points of Action features “espresso” presentations and a conversation about two recent projects that explore how public and domestic placemaking can help support connected, resilient, healthy communities.
Point of Action, a public installation in the Flatiron Public Plaza, designed by Studio Cooke John with lighting by Jimmie Drummond, considers “how public space can develop bonds and networks that help our city heal and thrive.”*
The Obsidian Concept House, which incorporates the work of 23 designers, including Nina Cooke John and Leyden Lewis, features a conceptual home for a Black family set in 2025 Oakland, California, using cutting-edge technology for the home and sustainable systems and practices, while honoring the multiplicity, history, culture and ancestry of Black families.**
