This week the Gender and Its Discontents: The New School Gender and Sexuality Studies Institute spring speaker’s series features Christen Clifford and Vanessa Place.

Christen Clifford is a multidisciplinary feminist artist, writer, curator, filmmaker, and mother. Her first risograph artbook, BabyLove, co-produced with Project for Empty Space, was published in 2021 and acquired by the Watson Library at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her work has been published in The Guardian, Broadly and Filmmaker Magazine; and seen at Eva Presenhuber, The New Museum, and INTERIORS: We Are All Pink Inside. She teaches at The New School and is a curator at Dixon Place.

Vanessa Place is an American poet and criminal appellate attorney. She has performed internationally, including at the Musée d’Orsay, the Getty Villa, the European Parliament (Brussels) and the Modern Museum of Art (New York), and published numerous books of poetry and prose.
The Gender and Its Discontents speaker’s series, is a co-hosted by the Culture and Media department at Eugene Lang College and the Gender and Sexualities Institute at The New School for Social Research, of which the Gender Minor at Lang is a co-partner.
