Join us for a conversation with artist Amy Sillman as she sits down with Robert Polito, faculty at the Creative Writing program.
Amy Sillman works in painting, drawing, zine making, iPhone animation, teaching, and curating, as well as writing. Born and raised in the Midwest, she moved to New York in 1975 and has lived there ever since. She was a professor of painting at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, from 2002 to 2014, and at the Städelschule, Frankfurt-am-Main, from 2014 to 2019. Her work has been exhibited widely in the US and Europe, and was the subject of solo shows including one lump or two (Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, 2013; Aspen Art Museum, 2014; Hessel Museum at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, 2014), The ALL-OVER (Portikus, Frankfurt-am-Main, 2016), Landline (Camden Arts Centre, London, 2018), and The Nervous System (Arts Club of Chicago, 2019). In 2019 – 20 she curated the exhibition, Artists Choice: The Shape of Shape, at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
