The School of Drama continues its dynamic partnership with Naked Angels, a leading figure in New York City’s theater community. The esteemed “1st Mondays at The New School” series is a vital platform for emerging playwrights from Naked Angels’ Tuesdays@9 community to showcase their work and for School of Drama students to interact with and learn from these emerging talents, gain insights into the process of creating and workshopping new plays, and forge meaningful connections within the industry.
Established in 2003, the 1st Mondays program is part of a long tradition of creative development powered by NYC writers and actors. Over the years, 1st Mondays has launched plays that later achieved critical success, including as Geoffrey Nauffts' Next Fall (Broadway) and Cynthia Kaplan's Cindy of Arc (finalist for the 2023 Richard Rodgers Award for Musical Theater).
Naked Angels is thrilled that the 2025-26 season will be hosted by the School of Drama, our partner in building community through theatre.
