Through her accomplishments at Eugene Lang, she is most proud of being able to support and assist the work of Lang’s mission as a student assistant.

----------

I would like to thank my peers Maliya Naz and Marikit Mayeno for being a support system and for being there to lend a helping hand. I would also like to thank m professors Katayoun Chamany and Bhawani Venkataraman for always believing in me and for all the extra efforts they make to help their students grow.

Nicole Collazo Santana

Journalism + Design '21

Nicole Collazo Santana is a Journalism + Design major from Caguas, Puerto Rico. During her four years at Lang, her favorite classes involve social justice, writing, and connecting with communities.

Her biggest accomplishments include building different spaces within the Journalism + Design department by co-founding a book club and a virtual coffee shop. (She loves coffee, a lot.)

In her free time, Nicole likes to spend time in the sun, travel, and dance.

---------

First, thank you to Kia Gregory. Your knowledge and support are out of this world. Thank you to my J+D peers who write and produce amazing work, you all inspire me. Also, extremely thankful for the Lang CESJ office and the Gural community, who remind me every week how important community is.

I am always grateful for Puerto Rico and my people from home– especially Alejandra, Melanie, and Leticia – my companions for eternity.

And mostly, I wouldn't have gotten here without mami and abuela— my best friends, number one fans, and biggest lights of my life.

Breanna Georges

Undeclared '24

Hi! I'm Bre and I'm very honored to be receiving the Eugene Lang Community Leadership Award! I've really loved the community I've found at Lang; my peers, professors, and staff at CESJ have made me feel loved and welcomed. As a freshman starting college during a pandemic, I was unsure of how things would play out. But I'm proud of myself for coming this far! I'm hoping to study Culture and Media in the future, as well as Race and Ethnicity, and Gender Studies. I've truly enjoyed every class I've taken so far, but my two favorites have been The Queer Page, taught by Miller Oberman, and Queering and Decolonizing Theology, taught by Eric Thomas. I'm looking forward to expanding my education even further in the coming years. I'm very grateful for this community, thank you so much.

Career Excellence Award

Presented to the students who is nominated for their personal achievements, contributions to their organization/work site, demonstrated personal and/or professional growth, evidence of leadership and academic record.

Adina Karp

Journalism+Design '21

Minors: Dance, Politics

Adina Karp (she/her) is a graduating senior from the Journalism & Design program at Eugene Lang with a double-minor in Politics and Dance. Her capstone focuses on collecting the oral history around her family's heirloom wedding dress. Born and raised in Chicago, Adina moved to NYC for The New School and hasn't looked back. One of the most formative classes she took at The New School was Radio Documentary. One of her proudest moments was winning a Speaker Award at her first official debate tournament with the Narwhal team.

The New School debate team as a whole — This award recognizes leadership, but without you I would never have found this amazing community.
Quinn — Debate is a partner activity, and I have been so lucky to get to learn from you as I work with you.
To Vik — As a coach, you have taught me so much. As an advocate, you reminded me that I deserved to take up space. Both have changed me completely.
To Max Adler's Family — I want to express my appreciation and how honored I feel to be part of this tradition.

Maya Wilson

The Arts '21

My name is Maya Wilson. I'm a senior majoring in the The Arts, with a concentration in Visual Studies. My favorite class was The Problem of Motion with Amalle Dublon.

I would like to thank the New School debate team and thank my coach, Viki, especially. You have been so supportive and made my time at the New School amazing.

Jesse Rose Ludington

Awardee

Literary Studies / Museum and Curatorial Studies '21

Jesse Rose Ludington is a Literary Studies major at Lang and a Museum and Curatorial Studies minor. One of her favorite classes in her time at Lang was Archives and Editions with Stephanie Browner because the class blended her passions for literature and archives. She is most proud of the body of work she's produced in her non-fiction and poetry classes, and the relationships she's built with workshop classmates and professors. Jesse is from East Haven, CT. Her most recent published non-fiction can be found in Volume 1 Brooklyn and Eleven and a Half Journal.

I'd like to thank professor Jennifer Firestone for her creative and academic mentorship throughout my time at Lang. I'd also like to extend my gratitude to professors Colette Brooks and Elizabeth Kendall for their critical roles in shaping my voice as a non-fiction writer.

Thank you to my mother, Kelley Butler, my sister, Kara Ludington, my girlfriend, Josie Tzitzimititla, and my best friend Merlin Garcia for their support, which each of them has consistently offered both personally and creatively. Writing would not be possible without such a strong support system, within and beyond Lang College.

Contemporary Music '23

I was born in Poznań, Poland, and moved to the United States when I was 10 years old. I’ve made every effort to stay connected to my country’s culture and stay in the know regarding the nation's troubling politics. I am currently studying Contemporary Music, and looking to pursue a career in the arts after graduation. It is important for me to engage in a form of activist work in support of the Polish opposition.

Thank you to my family for continuous support, and thank you to the Polish resistance who the piece aims to speak to.

Hosted by Your Company

ANN SNITOW AWARD

This award commemorates Ann Snitow, feminist writer, teacher, passionate activist, and Lang professor. She founded the university’s Gender Studies program and was hailed as an essential voice in the feminist movement and a hero of late twentieth-century radicalism. This award recognizes a Lang student whose passion for feminism, community, and activism embodies the spirit of Ann’s work.

Diana Edelman

Awardee

Literary Studies / Philosophy '21

My name is Diana Edelman, and I am a senior at Lang majoring in Literature with an emphasis on Writing and minoring in Philosophy. My three favorite classes have been Meoldrama in the Arts with Elana Greenfield, Theater of Cruelty with Rose Rejois, and Theories of Subjectivity with Daniel Rodriguez-Navas. I am most proud of my Capstone project, which is a screenplay titled City of Pigs because it represents the application of philosophies introduced to me by my most impactful professors and the thinkers that inspired them. These theories recognize their own shortcomings should they remain theory alone and therefore encouraged my adaptation of philosophy into a screenplay, that I hope to embody one day.

I would like to warmly thank Rose Rejouis for her nomination, consistent encouragement and her genius. I am so grateful to all of my wonderful professors, particularly Elana Greenfield, Daniel Rodriguez-Navas, Chiara Bottici, Dimitri Nikulin, and Inessa Medzhibovskaya, for introducing such ideas as theories of intersectionality and identity, in which no one is free until we all are.

I would like to thank Marwa Helal, who nominated my work for this award. Since meeting her last semester as my professor, she has nurtured my potential and has helped me to trust my voice and take up space as a writer. I am extremely humbled by her confidence in me and my talent and I am grateful to know her.

I'd also like to thank my family for supporting me in every thing that I do and loving me unconditionally. I wouldn't be the writer or the person I am today without you by my side.

From her time at Lang, she is most proud of making the Dean’s List and being a part of the Emerging Narwhal Leaders program!

II would like to thank everyone who encouraged me to write throughout this year, especially Professor M Milks, who nominated me for this award (and who had me write an essay a week in their class, even when I didn't want to). Thank you to all of my professors who have pushed me to be a better writer, and thank you to all of my peers who have supported me through these two semesters at Lang!
