The Lang ceremony is an intimate celebration of your time at the college. Lang faculty and your families are the primary attendees. Your name is called at this ceremony and you cross a stage to receive a diploma cover.
Cap & Gown - Required for Lang Ceremony
Students need to wear a cap and gown for both the Lang ceremony and to participate in University Commencement. To order your cap and gown, visit the Commencement website. Â
Guest Tickets
Students can reserve guest tickets by clicking the Register button.Â
If you have already registered, additional guest tickets are now available while supplies last. Please locate your confirmation email, and click "Modify RSVP" to increase the number of guest tickets.Â
The University Commencement for undergraduate students (Friday, May 17) is for the entire university. Faculty and students from across all undergraduate programs and your name will be read at this ceremony, too.

Effective February 23, 2023, event guests and/or visitors to the New School are no longer required to provide proof of up-to-date vaccination or negative result from a PCR test and do not need to use the CLEAR app to present their vaccination status. Wearing a mask is recommended but not required on campus.
During commencement events, guests who are arriving to on-campus ceremonies without their graduating student will be permitted to enter if they are on the RSVP list. At all other times, all guests and visitors must have their host present when they are signed in with Campus Safety in line with existing university policy. All students, staff and faculty must use their New School ID card to access campus buildings.
New School students seeking accommodations should contact the Student Disability Services office at studentdisability@newschool.edu.

All guests must register for each event they plan on attending, including your School Recognition Ceremony, University Commencement, Countdown for Commencement events, and other events throughout the week. Graduating students are responsible for registering their guests for each event.
For On-Campus Ceremonies:

For Commencement at USTA:
Proof of vaccination or negative test will not be required for entry to this event. Guests and visitors are expected to be both symptom-free as well as either vaccinated against COVID-19 or have a recent negative test. Masks are encouraged.Â
Cap and Gown orders have finished. There may be a small number of gowns available through the New Store. If you still need a cap and gown please be in touch with commencement@newschool.edu and elcdean@newschool.edu.Â
