LA Alumni Community Meetup

Join us for an exciting lineup of events as the Office of Alumni Engagement and Los Angeles Alumni Council proudly unveil their LA chapter with a fantastic array of seasonal meetups and initiatives right here in beautiful Southern California. Be part of a year filled with professional networking, educational opportunities, and community-building experiences alongside fellow alumni! 

 

Kick off the festivities with our premier event: a meetup at the renowned Hauser & Wirth gallery at 4:30pm, followed by a mixer at Manuela restaurant at 5:30pm. Help us build the local chapter and connect with the passionate alumni volunteer leaders of your regional alumni community.

Alumni Engagement and the Communities Program

With over 86,000 New School alumni in 130+ countries across the globe, the Office of Alumni Engagement is embarking on the launch of geographic and inclusive alumni community groups in NYC and around the world. Inaugural groups include Los Angeles Alumni, Hong Kong Alumni, DC Alumni, Black Alumni, Asian APIDA Alumni, LGBTQIA+ Alumni, and more.


The New School Los Angeles Alumni Community Group will offer New School graduates in Southern California opportunities to get involved in event networking, volunteerism, and philanthropic initiatives designed to foster pride, build a sense of belonging, and promote engagement with The New School and its current students. Jean is a creative and business professional with experience in art direction, design management, print design and marketing. As Committee Chair, Jean supports and advises the Office of Alumni Engagement in developing programming and activities for the Los Angeles Alumni Community Group.

Thomas Barrett Blakeley

LA Alumni Council, Member

MA Media Studies ‘18

Thomas Barrett Blakeley is a Los Angeles and New York City-based playwright, screenwriter, and musical theatre bookwriter. His plays and musicals have been performed at Playwrights Horizons, Theater for the New City, the Dream Up Festival, and the Broadwater Theater.

Kim Roberson

LA Alumni Council, Member

BFA Illustration '90

Kim has worked as a character designer, background designer, storyboard artist, writer, and director on television series at Disney TV, Nickelodeon, PBS, and Cartoon Network. In 2010, she won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing in Animation for her work on Disney’s Phineas and Ferb. In 2019, she worked as a Creative Manager at Netflix Animation for over 20 separate animation projects. She is now returning to Disney TV as a staff writer on the new relaunch of Phineas and Ferb.

Emily is Senior Director of Marketing for Diamond Development Group, a Los Angeles based commercial real estate development firm. Raised in Hong Kong, Emily comes from a real estate development background through her family of international investors. She is responsible for community outreach, digital marketing and events for retail shopping centers in Orange County. She also has experience in retail management, investing and leasing.
