Enclothed Knowledges brings together the work of international researchers working across the expanded field of fashion studies. Through methodologies of making, wearing, and performing, the exhibition explores how practice-based approaches can expand existing research methods and broaden participation in the field.

The exhibition forms part of the Enclothed Knowledges: Practice-Based Fashion Research Network, an international collaboration between Northumbria University and Parsons School of Design. Developed through workshops, dialogue, and collaborative exchange, the network asks what forms of knowledge emerge through practice-based research and how these methods can address systemic issues within fashion and the broader cultural industries.

Across film, garments, photography, installation, and performance, the exhibitors explore embodiment, material knowledge, social justice, decolonization, identity, and memory. Together, the works foreground the methodological and epistemological contributions that practice-based research brings to fashion studies.

Enclothed Knowledges is led and curated by Ellen Sampson (UWE) and Ben Barry (Parsons School of Design), and features work by Mi Medrado, Rikki Byrd, Sihle Sogaula, Silvia Bombardini, Lucy Gundry, Ellen Fowles, Julian Randall, Tamara Poblete, Tommy Tse, Julia Valle Noronha, Justine Woods, Hilary Davidson, Ricarda Bigolin, Chantal McDonald, and Christian Thompson.
