“Crises, Contingencies, Possibilities: Futures of Sociology in an Uncertain Present” aims to contribute to the production of new diagnoses about the multiple scales and axes in which these social transformations are taking place. This includes research focused on the present as well as historical perspectives that, directly or indirectly, illuminate it. Simultaneously, massive social change processes have always been critical moments for the development of Sociology, promoting the emergence of new theoretical, epistemological, and methodological approaches. Consequently, the Conference will also be a space for reflexivity, aiming to contribute to the self-understanding of the discipline, its potentials and limitations, and the possibilities of its future developments in the face of an uncertain present.
Keynote speakers include Alex Vitale (CUNY) and Gabriel Hetland (SUNY Albany).
