The New School’s 89th Annual University Commencement Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025. We look forward to celebrating celebrated the Class of 2025! All students who earn their degrees in December 2024, May 2025, and August 2025 are invited to participate in this ceremony. Students are recognized collectively by college at this ceremony.

Before University Commencement, each of our colleges hosts special recognition ceremonies for its graduates. It is at these school ceremonies that students are recognized individually by name. School recognition ceremonies will be held on or near the New School campus May 13, 14, and 15. We look forward to sharing the exact dates and times for each of these ceremonies by the new year so that students and families can plan travel accordingly.

Please mark your calendar for The New School's 89th Annual University Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 16, 2025. The ceremony will be live streamed for guests unable to join us in person.

The days leading up to the university-wide commencement,  graduating students will be invited to participate in ceremonies hosted by each of our colleges. These recognition ceremonies, held on-or-near the New School campus, honor each graduating student individually, and provide an important opportunity to engage with faculty and college traditions.

All students who earn their degrees in December 2024, or who apply to Graduate in May 2025 or August 2025, will be invited to participate in the ceremonies. To learn more about applying to graduate, please visit the Registrar's website.

In the days leading up to the university-wide Commencement ceremony, graduating students will be invited to participate in ceremonies hosted by each of our colleges. 

The dates for the college recognition ceremonies are listed below by college. We look forward to announcing additional details, including the number of guest tickets available and the ceremony start times, in January. Registration will launch in February.

Students graduating from the BA/BFA program will be invited to attend ceremonies for both of their degrees.

Commencement refers to the ceremonial event at which we celebrate students who earn their degrees, but graduation is the culmination of your years of work at The New School. The Registrar's office oversees the conferral of degrees and other administrative processes related to graduation.
