We are delighted to invite you to the online launch of The Bloomsbury Handbook of Service Design: Plural Perspectives and a Critical Contemporary Agenda—a major new reference work bringing together leading voices shaping the field of service design today.

Edited by Lara Penin (Professor of Transdisciplinary Design, Parsons School of Design, The New School), Dr. Alison Prendiville (University of the Arts London), and Daniela Sangiorgi (Politecnico di Milano), the Handbook offers a critical and expansive view of service design as a global, interdisciplinary, and socially engaged practice.

To celebrate the book’s publication, we will host two live online events convening an international group of chapter authors for short talks and conversations on the evolving agendas of service design, including its theoretical foundations, emerging methods and practices, critical perspectives, and expanding relevance across public, social, and institutional domains worldwide.

Featured speakers across the two sessions include contributors Lucy Kimbell, Lesley-Ann Noel, Rashid Owoyele, Aguinaldo dos Santos, Mari Suheimo, Mieke van der Bijl-Brouwer, Thomas Markussen, Joyce Yee, Nicola Morelli, Frederick M. C. Amstel, Mari Nakano, Elizaveta Lee Kravchenko, Luis Alt, Nipun Garodia, Michael Arnold Mages, Vanessa Rodrigues, and other authors from across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and Asia–Pacific.

The Handbook is a major collective effort—five years in the making, bringing together 70 contributing authors. Across 27 chapters, the volume aims to help re-shape the agenda of service design for the years ahead.
