LIVE MUSIC - PRESENTATIONS - COMMUNITY BUILDING
FEATURING:
MELANIE CHARLESÂ
MUSIC WORKERS ALLIANCEÂ
THIS IS A MOVEMENT STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBERSÂ
The event will facilitate impassioned community dialogue and interactive brainstorming, ultimately seeking to harness collective radical imagination to create a more equitable music industry. Guided by an intersectional Black feminist lens, the TIAM steering committee, alongside Melanie Charles and the Music Workers Alliance, will address:
Â
1.) Cultivating a network of trust to transform industry spaces.Â
2.) Creating coalitions to share resources and build forward.Â
3.) Normalizing an industry culture centered on humanity.
Vocalist, songwriter and producer Melanie Charles, alongside New School students, will begin the afternoon with live performance, as well as an introduction to her Make Jazz Trill Again Podcast (co-created with composer Yunie Mojeca), take on life, music and inspiration. This will be the first of many TIAM fellowships, intended to build community, challenge the status quo and imagine the futures we deserve into existence.
