Melissa Rancourt is a long-time educator for leaders, companies and governmental institutions on the subject of innovation, creativity, disruption and transformation. Born in Italy to parents of Greek & French heritage – raised in 10 states in the USA – and now a citizen and resident of Brussels for the past 18 years, she brings this mix of international cultures to her approach to business and societal impact.
For more than twenty-five years, Melissa Rancourt has worked to help organisations and individuals globally to develop their creativity and skills to share their work, expand their reach, and motivate their teams. Her background is varied – an Industrial Engineer starting in manufacturing and healthcare to University Faculty teaching several technical and business subjects to an Entrepreneur who loves to create businesses. Suh-young Yun is a storyteller at heart, with extensive experience in the media industry spanning from print and online journalism to broadcasting. After a career with the oldest English newspaper in Korea, The Korea Times, she continues to report on lifestyle and culture as a freelance journalist for both media and non-media companies including the South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong-based English newspaper, and Wallpaper*, the London-based design magazine. While at the Times, she worked at the city desk and culture desk as staff reporter and founded and managed the bi-weekly lifestyle magazine "W", a supplement published by the newspaper. She was the youngest team manager ever appointed by the paper. Much of her journalism career was spent on writing about the cultural scene in Korea, but her wide interest in business and innovation also led to coverage of startups and organizational culture — manifested by a year-long series on innovative work cultures in Korea published at the Times.
She participated as local producer in a documentary exploring North Korean food and culture filmed and broadcast by Al Jazeera. One of the longest-serving regular guests at This Morning, a current affairs program at the local English radio station TBS eFM, SuhYoung covered current affairs and cultural news, including the weekly travel segment. Suh-young was one of Seoul's "citizen designers" appointed to help rebrand the city image for the Seoul Metropolitan Government. She also worked with affiliate organizations such as the Seoul Design Foundation and DDP to revamp their websites.
A graduate of the inaugural class of Parsons’ Global Executive Master of Science (GEMS) in Strategic Design and Management, Suh-Young serves on the school's Alumni Council as Korea representative and the only Asian representative in the council. She earned her undergraduate degree in international studies and Korean law at the Ewha Womans University in Korea.
