It is no secret that the environmental impacts of the fashion and textile industry are vast and detrimental. The industry accounts for about 10% of the global CO2 emissions and 20% of wastewater worldwide, not to mention that approximately 35% of the world’s microfibers released into the environment stem from textiles. Extra pressure has been added on financing green transitions with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has hit the industry hard, and it is imperative to build the industry back better and greener.
This webinar will address the challenges and opportunities of shifting the industry to become more environmentally friendly, where the panellists will discuss financial tools, new business models, brands abilities to influence the agenda, and look into concrete solutions.
The Consul General of Denmark, Ambassador Berit Basse will welcome the event, followed by the Danish Climate Ambassador, Tomas Anker Christensen, who will share how a greener textile industry aligns with Denmark’s climate strategy. There will be an inspiring panel discussion, moderated by Joel Towers, where IFC, P4G, OVS and Novozymes will discuss financial tools and incentives towards a more environmentally friendly industry, including new business models, brands’ abilities to influence the agenda, and the importance of lifting together.
