The past year has brought a lot of changes to our university, to the city and to the world. Every person on the planet has had to adjust to living during the time of a pandemic, and yet, while we are separated from one another physically, our communities still face many of the challenges that existed before the pandemic and continue to persist and have, in many ways, intensified because of COVID-19. This Earth Week, we want to explore how we can support ideas and work that are transitioning us towards a fairer and more equitable space where all voices and communities are acknowledged, supported and encouraged.Â
Join us April 19 - 23rd for a week of events that will focus on what we need to do to center climate justice in the realms of health, education, community building and public discourse. Our hope is that this week’s programming gives you a spark of motivation, information and maybe even some joy. You can RSVP below for all upcoming events and you can reach us at @newschoolTEDC on Twitter, @tishmancenter on Instagram, and tedc@newschool.edu by email.
Presented by the Tishman Environment and Design Center.
Our Earth Week keynote will feature a conversation between Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson (Founder of Urban Ocean Lab & Co-Founder of the All We Can Save Project ) and Dr. Mia White (Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies in the Environmental Studies Program at the Schools of Public Engagement at The New School). Both of these women are working on creative ways to build community and solidarity in the climate space and this will surely be a thought provoking conversation on how we can continue fighting for a transition towards a world that values climate and environmental justice.
Committed to amplifying diverse voices, The New School offers more than a thousand public programs and events each year, providing fresh perspectives and unique learning opportunities. These lectures, exhibitions, concerts, and performances feature prominent and emerging artists, activists, and thought leaders.
